ARTIST STATEMENT In recent years the emphasis in my work has been to use trees as a theme. My tree paintings began as a threshold series. I feel we pass through many phrases of life and at times are somewhere between thresholds. We leave some and approach others. I strive to interpret emotions of change, and sense of place through my work. I don’t reproduce the image of trees and their surroundings, but rather capture an essence.
